Families Together is a 45-year-old nonprofit organization assisting families with children in Wake County, NC as they transition from homelessness to sustainable housing and stable homes. Our values of care, trust, advocacy, and transformation guide everything we do. We are seeking a Board Member who has personally experienced homelessness and is living stably housed now. Your insight and leadership are essential as we work to ensure children and families in crisis can move from crisis to community.
What you’ll do:
Share your lived expertise to shape strategy, policies, and governance of the mission
Help us stay grounded in what truly works for families and children
Serve on a committee
Act as an ambassador for our mission in the community
What we’re looking for:
You have personally experienced homelessness and are living stably housed now
Commitment to our values of care, trust, advocacy, and transformation
Openness to collaboration with a diverse board and staff team
No prior board experience is needed; we’ll support you every step
Time & support:
Board meets once a month (with two in-person meetings each year)
Committee meetings add about 1-2 hours/month
Onboarding, mentorship and support provided
