Let’s Face it… Together
The number of students reported homeless in 2017-18 by the Wake County Public School System increased yet again.
The number keeps climbing and now stands 80% higher than in 2010.
We estimate more than 5,500 children and youth will experience homelessness in Wake County this year.
These kids are so much more than nameless, faceless statistics.
They are the future of our community. When they can overcome homelessness, we are all better off.
In the face of such an alarming rise in childhood homelessness, our board voted unanimously this year to expand Families Together. In 2018/19, our goal is to house 90 families with children. By 2021, we seek to house 115 homeless families a year.
Our new 3-year plan will enable us to move more than 500 local children from homelessness to home.
